Movie star Matthew McConaughey isn’t running for governor of Texas in 2022.

Film star Matthew McConaughey (52) announced in one on Sunday video message posted on Twitter admitted that he had no immediate plans for a future in politics. In particular, the Oscar winner ruled out a possible candidacy for governor of Texas in 2022. Over the past two years, he’s spent a lot of time learning and listening after considering a career in public office.

“As a simple kid born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas, it would never have crossed my mind that one day I would be proposed for political office,” said McConaughey. It is an inspiring way to think about. “It’s also a path I don’t want to take right now,” the actor continued.

Matthew McConaughey: “Serving Great Leaders”

McConaughey studied both American and Texas politics. “What did I learn? A lot,” he said. “That we have some problems that we have to solve. That our politics needs a new goal. That we have trenches that need to be healed. That we need more trust in our lives.”

He has learned that freedom comes with responsibility and that great leaders serve. “Whether politician, CEO, star quarterback, mother, father, husband, wife, brother, friend, mentor or teacher – we lead by serving one another. We lead by our service. And what does service mean? Service means today Taking responsibility so that we can have more freedom tomorrow, “said McConaughey.

Rather than running for governor of Texas, the actor stated that he would continue to support companies and foundations that “build the way for people to succeed” and “organizations with a mission”. “That’s the American dream,” he added. “Politicians – the good ones – can help us get where we need to go. But let’s be aware that they can’t do anything for us if we don’t want to do something for ourselves,” McConaughey explained in the video .

He brought himself into play as a candidate for governorship

McConaughey commented on speculation about his plans to run for governor of Texas back in March when he appeared on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “That’s something I’m considering. Definitely,” he said at the time.

For a few months it sounded a little different on the “Carlos Watson Show” when he talked about the “challenge” of entering the world of politics. “I’m not interested in putting up a bunch of plasters that will be torn off as soon as I’m outside. I’m interested in building something that will last and I don’t know if that’s the policy,” he said. This whole political message needs to be redefined.

Matthew McConaughey made his big break as an actor in “The Jury” (1996). In 2014 he was awarded the Oscar for best leading actor in the drama “Dallas Buyers Club” (2013).
