TF1 is broadcasting the final episodes of the fifth and final season of “New Amsterdam” this evening. Unfortunately, viewers of the channel are in for a nasty surprise.
The end is near for New Amsterdam. On Wednesday, December 6, TF1 launched with great fanfare the broadcast of the fifth and final season of the medical series hosted by Ryan Eggold. A new burst of episodes which was marked by the surprise departure of Freema Agyema, who played Dr. Helen Sharpe since the launch of the fiction in 2018.
The actress had in fact announced her desire to leave the medical series even before the start of filming for season 5 in order to embark on new projects. The absence of this key character obviously had serious consequences on the life of Max Goodwin, the two lovers being on the verge of getting married in the finale of season 4.

And after only three weeks on the air, TF1 will broadcast this Wednesday, December 21, the final episode of season 5 of New Amsterdam, which is also the final episode of the medical series.
Unfortunately, TF1 viewers will have to stay up very late to discover the latest adventures of the New Amsterdam doctors since no less than 5 new episodes will be broadcast this evening.
You will therefore have to wait until 12:35 a.m. to discover the final part which promises to be full of twists and turns. This final episode, entitled “We can all help you”, should offer each of the characters a conclusion as “ssurprising than inevitable”.
It was in March 2022 that NBC announced that season 5 of New Amsterdam would be the last of the series. A final season which has been shortened since instead of the 22 episodes usually offered, this one is only made up of 13 episodes.
The announcement of the end of the medical series was probably motivated by the complicated audiences of the series which had lost many viewers in recent years.
