What is it about ?

Sergio hasn’t spoken since he killed his parents six years ago. Today, a psychiatrist seeks to uncover the truth by conducting her own investigation.

Who is it with?

Aron Piper remains in the stable that introduced him to the world with his new series. After Elite, which he left at the end of season 4, the actor is the headliner of this new Spanish production in which he completely changes the register. He also meets the actor Manu Rios, one of the new students of Las Encinas. Almudena Amor (seen in the horror film Abuela) plays the supporting role.

It’s worth checking out ?

On paper, El Silencio has it all. The series opens with the mysterious murder of Sergio’s parents. The latter would have attacked them before making them go over the balcony. Since this crime, the young man remains mute. We do not know why he did this and why he refuses to speak on the matter. The action resumes 6 years after these events. A psychiatrist decides to look into the case – even if it means becoming obsessed with it – and that’s when everything goes wrong for the viewer.

Because for a character who is not supposed to speak, synopsis in support, Sergio is rather talkative. In reality, he speaks with those who interest him (his educator who helps him to get closer to God, a groupie he uses to find a member of his family…). Therefore, the initial proposal is a little biased.

El Silencio is nonetheless an effective thriller, as the Spaniards know how to do. We forgive him for the “scientific experiment” side that is a little too far-fetched and too implausible to really believe in it, and we let ourselves be transported into the hero’s psyche to try to understand how he came to kill his parents. (well, if he is really guilty). And in this role, Aron Piper is rather convincing… and sometimes terrifying.

The good news is that this is a mini-series and that the 6 episodes follow each other rather easily. In any case, the last one has a few revelations in store for you and a rather effective outcome…
