Overconfidence – mountain rescue rescued overwhelmed via ferrata climber

One too many times in a row, a local wanted to climb the Galugg via ferrata in Zams on Sunday. The mountain rescue team had to get the exhausted man out of the face.

The cases of self-overestimation when climbing via ferratas did not stop in November either. This case, which called for the emergency services late on Sunday afternoon, belongs to a very special category. A local was stuck on the Galugg via ferrata (level of difficulty B and C – moderately difficult or difficult) behind the Zams hospital. According to the Tyrol control center, the man was so exhausted that he had to make an emergency call. Several times that day on the wall. As it turned out, the athlete had climbed the via ferrata, which was quite short with a difference in altitude of around 80 meters and a route length of 150 meters, several times the day before . He probably overestimated his condition and overtaxed himself. The Landeck mountain rescue service was finally able to rescue the athlete unharmed.
