It’s official, the name of the SoC that will equip the next smartphones in the Pixel range is “Tensor G2”.
Google provides little information about its new in-house chip. On its Store, however, the firm announces more performance related to photos, videos, security and voice recognition.
Samsung in production
Google called on Samsung to manufacture its new chip. Although the Korean manufacturer has the technology to develop chips with a 3nm architecture, it is likely that Google chose a 4nm architecture for cost reasons.
Also manufactured by Samsung and benefiting from a 4 nm architecture, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip suffered from overheating concerns. Will this be the case with Tensor G2? Impossible to know at the moment, but we can hope that it will have similar performance.
