Platinum Games asks Microsoft to revive the project –

In 2014 we learned of the existence of a certain Scalebound by the Platinum Games studio. Before it was canceled 3 years later. In 2022, the studio officially asks Microsoft to relaunch the machine.

Scalebound has been canceled for years, that’s a fact. But its creator really seems to regret this decision and wants to shake things up.

Indeed it is clearly a call of the foot which is launched by Platinum Games and more particularly by Astushi Inaba its CEO and Hideki Kamiya officiating as Game Designer within the said studio. During an interview granted by IGN Japan, the two men appealed to Microsoft and even challenged Phil Spencer (Head of Microsoft Studios and Xbox).

A public request

CEO Kamiya explains:

We would really like to work on Scalebound again. I’d love to discuss this properly with Microsoft

I would like to speak directly to Phil Spencer! Let’s do it, Phil!

Development had progressed well, and it seems pointless for Microsoft to hang on to it and not do anything about it.

We never really knew the reasons for the cancellation of the RPG Scalebound, but it seems the game was particularly ambitious. Maybe even too much for the Japanese studio. We also learn in the said interview that it is the Unreal Engine which would be in question, the teams not being at all familiar with the engine at the time.

In short, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will take matters directly in hand and contact the Platinum studio to follow up on this call.
