Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have given their daughter a clear sign of reconciliation with the royal family with the baby name, but did the Queen know that her personal nickname is being used?
Prince Harry, 36, and Duchess Meghan, 39, are overjoyed to finally be able to hold their little daughter in their arms and call the girl Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, known as ‘Lili’. The birth took place at the private Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, very close to the Sussex estate in Montecito. Births here cost around £ 20,000 (the equivalent of around 23,000 euros) and the family is already back home and recovering.

The name is a clear signal to the royal family – the royal family ties should be strengthened again. Lilibet is the nickname of Queen Elizabeth, 95, which she has had since she was a child. He goes back to when the queen was too young to pronounce her own name and called himself ‘Lilibet’ instead. Her parents and grandparents adopted the nickname her father King, George VI (1895-1952) once quoted as saying: “Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy.” Even then, the Queen signed her private letters with ‘Lilibet’. The Sussex family statement states: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose nickname is Lilibet.”

Harry is said to have always had a particularly close relationship with the Queen, as he said in the Oprah interview: “My grandmother and I have a really good relationship and understanding.
