Rollover near Kittsee – tugboat accident: identity of the dead clarified

As reported, a serious traffic accident with a tractor vehicle in mid-August on the A6 in Burgenland claimed deaths and serious injuries. The driver of the van lost control of the vehicle while fleeing, and it overturned. The accident claimed three lives, who have since been identified.

The deceased woman is a Turkish citizen, said a spokesman for the Burgenland State Police Headquarters on Monday at the APA request. Her sons, aged seven and ten, and her husband were also in the vehicle and survived. The two men are from Egypt and Syria. According to the Eisenstadt public prosecutor’s office, the Turkish woman is between 40 and 50 years old, and the other two victims are “young men”. An autopsy had previously shown that all three had died as a result of the accident. The driver of the van, in which there were a total of 20 migrants, had tried to escape the controls at the Kittsee border crossing, the escape ended in a serious accident. The three fatalities died at the scene of the accident, 17 people were seriously injured. The smuggler, a 30-year-old Russian, was arrested. He is currently in custody in Eisenstadt.
