Spahn disregarded his own corona appeal
One day before his positive corona test, Health Minister Spahn warns of the risk of infection at private meetings. In the evening he himself takes part in a dinner with more than ten people. However, he does not want to have violated corona rules.
Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn attended a dinner with more than ten participants in Leipzig one day before his positive Corona test in October 2020. According to information from ntv, the dinner was a sponsorship event for the CDU, which took place in Peter Zimmermann's private apartment. Zimmermann was formerly the government spokesman for the state government of Saxony and Thuringia and is considered a confidante of Spahn.
According to ntv information, participants paid 10,000 euros for an invitation to dinner with the minister. The representative office of Spahn confirmed the appointment at the request of the "mirror". However, Spahn's office did not comment on any donations. It was a "private, not public dinner". The then valid rules for corona protection were "complied with after confirmation from the host", it says. The guests of the evening were informed about Spahn's infection after the positive test.
Participants confirmed to ntv that they kept their distance and mask was worn that evening – but only until the guests had sat in their seats. After Spahn became aware of the coronavirus infection a day later, according to ntv information, they were also tested for the virus little by little. So far, nothing is known about other possible infections of participants. After his infection became known, Spahn had announced that he had informed the health department of all contacts.
The health minister tested positive for the corona virus on October 21. At this point in time, the number of cases in Germany increased significantly. At the time, Spahn warned people to be careful: "We know above all where the main points of infection are. Namely when celebrating, when socializing, at home privately or at the event, at the party, in the club," he said on the morning of Sponsor dinners on ZDF.
Shortly after Spahn's corona infection, the minister's stay a few days before his corona test in a Berlin restaurant became public. But he couldn't say whether he was infected there. A woman, who was also a guest there, publicly accused Spahn of not having informed the operator of the restaurant about his illness.
