Square Enix just registered the Tactics Ogre: Reborn brand in Japan

Right now, Square-Enix seems to be fond of tactical RPGs. With the success of Triangle Strategy and the imminent arrival of The DioField Chronicles, the publisher’s interest in the genre seems to be gradually rekindling, and it would not be surprising to see it delve into its former glories to satisfy that TRPG hunger. So when we see Square Enix registered trademark Tactics Ogre: Rebornfans of the series Ogre have something to celebrate.

An almost unexpected return

The publisher has in fact registered the trademark Tactics Ogre: Reborn recently in Japan, suggesting that a new installment of the tactical RPG series is in development. Unless it’s a remake or remaster, as the name might suggest. reborn could also totally stick to a reboot idea for the saga.

Anyway, the publisher seems to be preparing the return of the series well, which has not had an episode since 2010 and the release of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. As Nibel points out on Twitter, Tactics Ogre: Reborn was also part of the infamous leaked Nvidia listing a few months ago, further strengthening the credibility of the leak.

We are now waiting to see if, or especially when, Square Enix will formalize the return of the saga.
