Take-away Starbucks coffee is becoming more expensive: At the world’s largest coffee house, customers will soon pay 10 cents more if they take the hot drink with them in a disposable cup. Starbucks intends to donate the proceeds in full. The money will go to the environmental organization WWF, according to a media release.
Coffee drinkers can save at Starbucks too. If you bring a reusable cup to the Starbucks counter yourself, you pay 80 cents less. Means: There are three prices. A “to-go” price with a surcharge of 10 cents. A “normal price” if you drink coffee in a cup in the pub. And a reduced price for those with reusable cups.
Mission against waste problem
The time in lockdown made the problem clear: Many parks and lakeside were literally flooded with rubbish. Surely there were also disposable Starbucks cups to be found there. With the price increase, the coffee company hopes to reduce waste and make reusable cups more popular.
