TGW participation – “bait” for employees: additional vacation or money

Mango, Urban Outfitters, adidas – they all equip their logistics halls with technology from TGW. A demand that brings the Marchtrenker under pressure: 850 employees are to be brought on board over the next nine months. Expansion plans are also being rolled out.

“We are not swimmers, but have arrived in the top logistics league,” says Harald Schröpf, who is the managing director at TGW. The warehouse equipment supplier now employs around 3800 people, around 2000 of them in Upper Austria – at the locations in Marchtrenk, Wels and Rohrbach. A total of 850 more employees are to be added in the next nine months, around 600 of them in our state.

Software and IT specialists are in demand. Schröpf is aware that the competition for the best minds is fierce in the central area. “Our industry is leading a wallflower existence, and the most modern technology is used,” emphasizes the TGW boss, who is already rolling over the expansion plans. Office space and production are to be expanded in Marchtrenk and a training center is to be built. “The location is already too small,” says Schröpf.

The logistics specialist interprets the employee participation as “bait”, in which € 7 million was paid out in 2020/21 – in the form of additional vacation days or money, supplemented by health offers. For someone who has worked for the company for five years, that means six additional days of vacation or a bonus of € 2000.
