The OnePlus 10 (Pro) arrives much earlier than expected – for good reason

According to a post by Pete Lau on Weibo shared by the brand’s official account on Tuesday December 21, the OnePus 10 Pro could be out in January. So the new flagship should actually hit the market earlier than usual, which confirms previous rumors.

  • OnePlus could adjust its release schedule – possibly to align with Xiaomi’s.
  • Incidentally, the manufacturer could initially only bring one model onto the market instead of two.

The OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will be the manufacturer’s next flagships. While OnePlus usually unveils its new high-end smartphones at the end of the first quarter, there have been rumors of a change in strategy with a launch in January 2022. An announcement from the OnePlus co-founder seems to confirm this trend.

In a post on Weibo, none other than Pete Lau confirmed that an event for the OnePlus 10 Pro will take place in January 2022. The OnePlus manager used the hashtag # OnePlus10Pro with the note “See you in January”. So it is highly unlikely that this will be anything other than the idea of the new smartphone.

We are deliberately talking about a smartphone in the singular, as there is a possibility that OnePlus will be able to use this year only brings one model to market – at least initially. A second could follow in the second half of 2022 and could then be the base model OnePlus 10 or even a OnePlus 10T. In this way, the manufacturer, which is now only part of Oppo, could adopt the strategy that Xiaomi uses for its flagships.

Bringing the schedule forward at OnePlus then seems completely logical with a view to Xiaomi. The competitor will launch its Xiaomi 12 in China on December 28th.

The manufacturer has launched its new smartphones earlier and earlier every year. As a reminder: The OnePlus 9 was launched in Europe on March 23, the OnePlus 8 on April 14 and the OnePlus 7 on May 14. However, there is no indication that OnePlus will bring its release schedule forward in Europe as well. Especially since Oppo would shoot itself in the foot if you get in the way with the Find X4 (Pro), which is also expected in early 2022.

What do you think of this change in strategy from OnePlus? Are you longingly waiting for the presentation of the OnePlus 10 Pro? Let’s discuss it in the comments.
