The universe of Warcraft will arrive on mobile in 2022

At the start of 2021, almost a year ago to the day, Blizzard had indicated that it had worked on ” many free-to-play mobile Warcraft experiences “. On the occasion of the financial report for the fourth quarter of 2021, the company, which has just been acquired by Microsoft, confirms its desire to bring this rich and fantastic universe to a new platform.

We don’t have any information yet on what type of game we’ll be dealing with, but the company plans to implement the Warcraft license on mobile this year. In any case, this is what Blizzard explained, also saying that content would arrive in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.

Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and bringing brand new mobile Warcraft content into the hands of players for the first time.

This therefore means that the internal tests on one of the projects have seduced the developers, who will soon put it to some of the players. Like Diablo Immortal, its deployment should be done in stages. Regarding the experience, we shouldn’t see WoW being available in a mobile version and this game should be a standalone, without impacting the experiences already available, again like Diablo Immortal. Rather, we should be dealing with a gateway into this universe, for new players to discover..

Note that this mobile project could, finally, be the Pokémon GO-style game Warcraft, mentioned at the end of 2018. In any case, we should know a little more about it soon enough, since Blizzard wants to release it, at least in part, this year.
