The rehab after his bad accident in February will keep Tiger Woods busy for even longer. He has never had such pain before.

Golf pro Tiger Woods (45) has the magazine “Golf Digest” gave an initial interview around three months after his serious car accident. In it, the athlete, who has already recovered from a number of injuries, explains: “That was something completely different this time. I know the rehab process from my past injuries, but it was more painful than anything I’ve ever experienced.”

Woods ran his car off the road in California on February 23 because of excessive speed and rolled over several times. He suffered open fractures on his shin and fibula on his right leg. He had an emergency operation immediately after his accident. At the time of the accident, the 45-year-old was recovering from a microdisectomy that he had undergone in December. It was Wood’s fifth back operation. In April 2017, he also had an operation on his spine, and he has already had five operations on his left knee.

In the new interview, Woods did not want to comment on whether he could ever play golf again. He is currently focusing on physiotherapy: “I do my routines every day and focus on my number one goal: walking independently. One step at a time.”

Woods is grateful for the “incredible” support he has received from athletes and fans around the world. “I’ve had so much support from people inside and outside of golf, which means a lot to me and has helped tremendously.”
