Tobey Maguire last shot a Hollywood movie in 2014. But after seven years of abstinence, he is now back.

For fans of actor Tobey Maguire (46), a long period of suffering could soon pass. Hard to believe, but the “Spider-Man” star last made a movie in 2014 – the biopic “Pawn Sacrifice” about world chess champion Bobby Fischer (1943-2008). But now, seven years later, Maguire is apparently about to make the long-awaited comeback on the screen – and that could be tough. As reported by “Entertainment Weekly”, he was cast for the new film by Oscar winner Damien Chazelle (36, “Whiplash”, “La La Land”).

It goes by the name of “Babylon” and is said to be set in Hollywood at the end of the 1920s, when silent films were increasingly being replaced by talkies. An era that Maguire should be very familiar with thanks to his role in “The Great Gatsby” from 2013. The cast confirmed so far is beyond any doubt regardless of the Hollywood returnees. The “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” colleagues Brad Pitt (57) and Margot Robbie (30) belong to the ensemble as well as Olivia Wilde (37), Samara Weaving (29), Katherine Waterston (41) and Spike Jonze, 51.

According to the report, Maguire also acts as one of the producers of “Babylon” in addition to his role. In the USA, the strip should appear at the end of 2022, for Germany, a start date in February 2023 is currently an option.
