TotalEnergies announces a “significant” gas discovery off the coast of Cyprus

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Energy producer TotalEnergies announced on Monday that it had made a “significant” gas discovery with its partner Eni off the coast of Cyprus, on the Cronos-1 well in Block 6, operated by the group Italian.

“Located approximately 160 km southwest of the Cypriot coast, Cronos-1 encountered several intervals of good quality carbonate reservoir and confirmed a net gas thickness of over 260 meters,” TotalEnergies said in a statement.

“This discovery follows that of Calypso-1 made on this same block in 2018,” added TotalEnergies, which holds a 50% stake in Block 6. Eni also holds 50%.
