Is it always just annoying the others? Funny! That’s probably what most people think …

Hmmm, what’s the nicest way to say it …? People can be quite annoying! But are they doing it on purpose? Probably not. Most of them do not even notice when they get on other people’s nerves, and sometimes you also get annoyed with things that you 100% sure think are the exact opposite of annoying. But doesn’t that automatically mean that …? Yes, that’s exactly what it means! Therefore, here are a few classic annoying things that we don’t even perceive as annoying – if we do them ourselves …

1. Uncertainty

“Do you really think the skirt suits me?” “I’m trying to get this done by tomorrow morning, but I don’t know if I can do it!” “Hmm, do I have the chocolate croissant or rather the lye?” We really don’t like to say it, but overly insecure people can be quite stressful. On the other hand, people who know what they want, make clear statements, stand by their decisions and take responsibility for them – soooo relaxed!

2. Telephoning in public

“What? Oh, yes, haha, right, I also noticed!” What then? What’s the matter? Orrrr! Sure, it’s super practical to call mom on the train on the way home – time management on point. But for the other passengers it is extremely annoying to have to listen to scraps of conversation throughout the journey. Surely you have already noticed it, right?

3. Let the dog run free

Sure, your dog is of course super nice and harmless and does not bother anyone – but firstly, the others do not know that, secondly, not all people are dog fans and thirdly, your dog will surely run across the path spontaneously or stop abruptly in his animal naivety, when he smells something interesting. And for cyclists, joggers or other bystanders, this can be quite an irritation, to put it cautiously.

4. Excessive consideration

“You really don’t want the last slice of pizza? Are you sure? Take it if you want, I’ll be happy to do without it!” Phew, at some point it’s good too! Of course you should be considerate (e.g. by leashing your dog and getting mom up to speed only at home), but you can overdo it. After all, the others are already big – and can tell when they feel left out.

5. Block the escalator

There are two types of people: Those who use an escalator so they don’t have to climb stairs. And those who use an escalator to move faster. Both types could coexist great next to each other if everyone only adhered to one rule: stand on the right, walk on the left! If you ignore this rule and stand around on escalators all over the place, lost in thought, you can assume that you are stressing others with it.

6. Do everything alone

“I can do it! I’ll be fine! Oops …” Admittedly, theoretically one would think that those who never ask for help and want to find out and manage everything on their own are less annoying to others than people who simply ask for help when in doubt. But the practice looks different! In truth, it is precisely those who know their own limits, who manage their resources and who can admit that they are sometimes dependent on others, that are a relief. Because if a person does not take care of himself (for example by asking for help), this task, for better or worse, depends on others …

7. Constant justification

“I haven’t made it yet because first A, then B and then C …” Uh, okay, but in the time that we have now wasted clarifying the cause, you might have made it up to you? Very few people want to hear long justifications and apologies, and we don’t owe them to anyone. After all, it goes without saying that we do our best, and if something does not go as planned, there are always good reasons for it. If you want to know, you will ask or look at us expectantly; if in doubt, we will only hold up everyone else unnecessarily.

For the sake of completeness: Of course you can’t and shouldn’t blame anyone for accidentally annoying other people, after all, we certainly all do it once! Fortunately, it is up to you not to let yourself be annoyed …
