The new work by the “Your Name” creator is entitled “Suzume no Tojimari” and is due to be published in autumn 2022. Director Makoto Shinkai announced details of the new anime at a press conference.

Director and screenwriter Makoto Shinkai gained international attention with his works “Your Name – Yesterday, Today and Forever” and “Weathering With You”. At a press conference in Tokyo, the anime mastermind presented his new work “Suzume No Tojimari” (literally translated as: The sealing of the doors of Suzume). The new anime film should be included in Japanese cinemas in autumn 2022 come.

Shinkai describes his work as a kind modern adventure story, an action film and as a road movie. And as adventurous as the mixture with the young woman Suzumu in the center sounds, the plot of the film could be just as exciting.
That’s what it’s about
Suzume is 17 years old and lives in a quiet town on Kyushu Island. The young woman meets a man who is looking for a door. The curious Suzume decides to help the young man in his search and the two find one lonely, mysterious door in the middle of the ruins on a mountain.
After Suzume opens it, more doors appear across Japan and disasters from beyond the doorsteps break into the country. The young woman from the small town has to get up of their journey beyond themselves and grow with their tasksso that she can close the strange doors again and prevent further misfortune.
It will take a while until autumn 2022, but until then you can pass the time with other top-class anime series and films. Netflix offers you many anime originals, and Crunchyroll and Wakanim are also constantly expanding their program with exciting new anime.
